Pumps

A centrifugal pump is a mechanical device designed to move a fluid by means of the transfer of rotational energy from a driven impeller. Fluid enters the rotating impeller along its axis and is cast out by centrifugal force along its circumference through the impeller’s vane tips.

A submersible pump is a centrifugal or positive displacement pump which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the pump body designed to operate submerged in the process fluid.

A positive displacement pump is a mechanical device that moves a fluid by repeatedly enclosing a fixed volume of fluid and moving it through the system. The pumping action is cyclical and can be driven by pistons, screws, gears, lobes, diaphragms or vanes.

A self-priming pump is a centrifugal pump that has the capability of evacuating air from the pump suction line allowing atmospheric pressure to push the fluid into the pump casing for operation.

Sealless pumps are centrifugal or positive displacement pumps that do not utilize or have need of packed glands or seals. Instead, there is a static containment shell (or shroud) that creates a completely sealed pressure boundary between the process and surrounding environment.

A solids handling pump is a centrifugal or positive displacement pump designed in such a way that solids in the pumped fluid are able to be moved without disrupting operation.

A Vaccum pump is used to remove air, vapor particles, and wet gas from a system.
